A LETTER TO THE PARLIAMENTARY LABOUR PARTY

Dear PLP,

We are the ordinary members of the Labour Party. We are the people who didn’t join as a career option, the people who don’t benefit from the fabulous pension arrangements or generous expenses. We joined for no other reason than to support a party we believe is dedicated to creating a better, fairer country. Many of us are active in our local branch, come election time many more of us volunteer to deliver leaflets, knock-on-doors and man phone banks. But probably most importantly of all, everywhere we go – in our workplaces, pubs, bowling clubs, local football teams – when the conversation turns political, we stand up for, we argue for, the Labour Party and its values. In communities across the country we are the voice of the Labour Party. We do all of this free of charge because we believe in something.

And the fate of the Labour Party is now in OUR hands.

Ten months ago we elected Jeremy Corbyn as leader of our party. You made it perfectly clear in the run up to that election how unhappy you would be if that happened. We did it anyway. Once again you are making it clear that electing Jeremy Corbyn is (to put it mildly) not your preferred option. Yet, if opinion polls are correct, it looks as though we going to do exactly that.

And what is your response to this?

Do you show some humility, listen to us, engage with our concerns, perhaps wonder if your high-handed arrogance might be part of the problem? No. Instead you abuse us. You call us ‘dogs’, ‘Trots’, ‘a rabble’ and ‘entryists’ (despite the fact many of us have been in the party since before some of you were born). You attempt to use the statements / actions / behaviour of a few (whose connection to Corbyn is often tenuous) to smear thousands of honest, hard-working, conscientious party members. WE ARE NOT THE PEOPLE YOU ARE DETERMINED TO MISREPRESENT US AS. We are teachers, dinner ladies, cleaners, shop workers, nurses, accountants, van-drivers and represented in every job category you can think of. Among other things, some of us are married, not-married, parents, childless, gay, straight, transgendered, Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and we don’t divide people on the basis of ‘normal’ and ‘abnormal’.

Obviously Jeremy Corbyn will not be the leader of the Labour Party for ever. Regardless of the circumstances which bring that about, for us, he will always be a hero of the Labour Party: a man of principle who has dedicated his life to creating a better, fairer world. He certainly didn’t deserve 171 stab wounds in the back and one in the front from Jess Philips, MP, for the sole crime of being elected leader by us.

You keep telling us there is no point in principles without power. Your behaviour in relation to Jeremy Corbyn has perfectly demonstrated to us that you seek power but have no principles. And until that changes, I’m afraid most of us will not be listening to your advice with regard to our future leader.

Yours sincerely,

Many, many Labour Party members.

because its inward reflections being dragged screamingly to the forge of words
to be hammered into  (*cough) universal meanings….

Blue Dolphin

Sunday, August 28th, 2016

Arc of light,
A blue dolphin curving from the deep.

Trailing a parabola of single crystal droplets,
Tiny diamonds of liquid light lapping an air-smoothed body
Frozen in the twisting arc, yet moving with the intensity of light;

Supporting an unalloyed  creature joy moving between spatial domains.
In that moment defining an infinite  beauty.

Perfection in the completion of the vision.

Defining a new future.

You were my blue dolphin.

……..it happens

Sunday, August 28th, 2016

Found by the patio window
small shivering feather bundle:

Those that brought you so low
languidly laying around disinterested;
puzzled by your living stillness
Sitting in my hand so trusting.

A located box lined with tissue
an eye-bath of water,
drops taken from my finger,
feather-warmth skin perceptible.
tilted-head seeing beyond.
knowing, what I would find.

A pulse ceased in the night.

Morning sounded,
less one delicate strand.

A perfect stillness.

How the PLP have been against Jeremy Corbyn from the very start

by Matthew Lane So, here we are again, another Labour leadership election less than a year since Jeremy Corbyn won the last one in such spectacular fashion (with the biggest mandate of any Labour l…

The Labour right-wing is failing miserably in its attempts to get rid of Corbyn.

FROM HERALDScotland :

I’D like to present a summary of what many of our Labour MPs (including our very own Ian Murray MP) have been up to. So far Labour’s right has:
1) Carried out a sustained and bitter campaign of deliberate wrecking, against a leader elected by a majority of members, from day one.
2) Carried out the notorious Chicken Coup in a manner calculated to cause maximum damage, at a time when Labour under Jeremy Corbyn was beginning to win elections again, had fought four successful by-elections, three with large favourable swings, taken London and Bristol and won every other mayoral contest, polled more votes than the Tories and was three per cent ahead in the national polls; in other words the Chicken Coup badly sabotaged the party just when it was becoming successful again.

3) Tried to nobble the leadership campaign by trying to keep Mr Corbyn off the ballot.
4) Tried to nobble the leadership campaign by disenfranchising more than 100,000 new full members who had joined on the understanding they had full voting rights.
5) Tried to nobble the leadership campaign by making signing up as a supporter as difficult and expensive as possible (I am amazed so many did in the end).
6) Tried to nobble Mr Corbyn’s support base among constituency parties by shutting them all down for the duration. “Intimidation” makes a good all-purpose excuse but the reality was they were scared of a genuine grass-roots uprising among the 80 per cent of (constituency Labour parties (CLPs) that supported Mr Corbyn. If CLPs had been left to function normally, that could have led to motions of censure and no confidence against not just Angela Eagle but all the Chicken Coup MPs. That is the real reason they were hastily shut down.
And you know what? None of it seems to be working. Labour now has a mass membership about twice the size of all the other UK parties put together (“Corbyn confident of staying leader as new members rush to join party”, The Herald, July 21). The membership is youthful, growing and engaged, where the Tory party’s membership is shrinking, ageing and mostly passive. John McTernan dismissed the membership as people who do not matter.

How wrong he was. Like most of Labour’s right, yesterday’s man with yesterday’s politics.

Out of touch PLP!!!

from    A Up Let’s Talk YouTube

Labour Party MP John Spellar recently appeared on television with Peter Hitchens and Zoe Williams where a debate about Labour Party members took place. Spellar went on to rant about large groups of the party’s membership and use socialism and workers rights as somewhat laughable and ridiculous political concepts. This is despite the party’s leader being a socialist! Spellar proves in this clip how out of touch many of the PLP are and the battle Corbyn and his supporters face to provide a united opposition to the Tories.
